Research & Publications
Publications at the National Institute of Design (NID) aim to capture the institute’s unique design philosophy and experiences gained through the practices in design education, research, consultancy, and outreach. NID publications reflect India’s diverse and dynamic socio-cultural and economic scenarios wherein perspectives on design research, practice, and education have been appropriately interwoven with the contemporary concerns of sustainability and development. The range of titles published so far aim to build connections to the past, present, and future of design education and practice. They focus upon contemporary issues; social concerns; historical development; economic, political and environmental contexts; global connections; and extrapolate the philosophical developments in design. The department’s range of publications includes books, monographs, catalogues, a publication exclusively focusing on design research, and a magazine—all of which collate design activities, events, concepts, and theories.
