Competition - Global South

Very Short fiction and documentary films, not less than 2 minutes and not more than 5 minutes long (original production length - no modified versions will be entertained), will be eligible to participate in the Alpavirama Online 2020 Competition - Global South Section. The film(s) should have been produced on or after 1st January 2020 and should have been directed by a young person (under 30 years, at the time of making his/her film), who is a citizen of and ordinarily resident in any of the countries the Global South. The subject matter of the film should also broadly deal with the lockdown that has happened due to Covid19. Films made in languages other than English should have subtitles in English.

Rules & Terms

• Live-action/animation/mixed media very short films of minimum 2 minutes running time and not more than 5 minutes long (original production length - no modified/shortened versions) will be eligible to participate in Alpavirama 2020 Online very short film festival.
• The subject matter of the very short films should be Covid-19 virus-related lock-downs and their human consequences and repercussions.
• The very short film(s) produced on or after 1st January 2020 are eligible to apply.
• The very short films should have been directed by a young person (under 30 years, at the time of making his/her film).
• The director should be a citizen of and ordinarily resident in any of the Global South countries (excluding Europe, North America and Australia).
• The genre of the very short film could be fiction, non-fiction, experimental, music video, etc.
• All music used in the very short movies should be either original or rights free.
• Films made in languages other than English should have subtitles in English.
• The entry is only through FilmFreeway.
