Jitendra Singh Rajput holds a bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering and has done post-graduation in Strategic Design Management from NID, with more than 18 years of work experience . He has joined NID in 2010 and has been a faculty in Strategic Design Management since 2013. Before joining NID, he has worked in automotive and heavy engineering organizations in the research and development departments.

He teaches, Design Economics, Entrepreneurship, Design Management and Design research and has interest in areas of strategic planning, policy design and systems thinking. He also leads the Design Clinic Scheme as Project Head which is an initiative of NID and Ministry of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSME), Govt of India for promotion of design in MSME sector in the country. The project aims for spreading design awareness and value creation through design intervention in the MSME sector in the country. The scheme provides funding and hand-holding support to MSMEs to make them more competitive using Design. The scheme adopts innovative approaches for reaching out and implementation in the MSMEs which itself proves the strategic design approach in policy implementation.

At NID, Jitendra has been involved in various social development projects with strategic design intervention possibilities. Small businesses, Medical Devices Sector, Heritage City, Traffic Challenges etc. projects have been part of classroom and professional project activities where he has worked with various government agencies. He was the co-coordinator of Design for Social Development Conference-2019, organized by NID and WDO. The conference also revisited the 1979 Ahmedabad Declaration on Industrial Design for Development which was is a strategic document on design for social development.
