Everyday is a new tussle; a tussle to live, to survive, to come good, to achieve, to believe, to hope, to smile and to love. ‘Halftime Offside’ is a saga that evolved in the underbelly of this tussle called life. It is about the ‘them’, the ‘abnormal’, the outcasts, the powerless. This film is about hope, love and the courage required in making a decision and standing by it.
The film is an effort to broaden people’s perspectives towards other persons. It is a film about music and it is a film about football. It’s a strange bunch and a mix of men who are struggling to stay sane in their own ways; the guys who are walking a tightrope every single day of their lives, who are real fighters. Most of these men have seen their prime pass by.
The main process that the film followed was to get to know these men; knowing about their family, hopes, dreams, past, and future. It was the toughest task because to know someone intimately one needs to change; beliefs and ideals need to change which is painful. The other biggest challenge was honesty: honesty to the subjects, to oneself and to society. Looking at life from the other side is an exciting journey. This was my favourite journey; to be able to see oneself grow during one single journey in ways that one never imagined and will cherish for the rest of one’s life. |
