My project was a self sponsored docu-fiction, inspired by real life characters. The story has a gifted child, Arun, with immense potential who meets his fate that seems plotted all against him. Arun runs away from home in his fear. His inherent nature makes him come back, not just for himself but for the others around, and then discover wonders around him. Life doesn’t hold promises always, but some like Arun discover them in the dust. The film celebrates the spirit of children to go on, through the protagonist who embodies this spirit in its most amazing glory. The film revels in the journey of this child in the short time when he undergoes a difficult emotional period, feels all hope is lost and runs away.

The processes involved were: searching for the concept; visiting villages for defining and validating the idea; working with one’s own imagination and intention from idea to story; research– living with the people in the village, observation, photography, interaction etc; writing the story, screenplay /script; budgeting; direction; production; videography; editing; and post- production.

The project enabled me to realise my idea in its pure spirit. Also, it is my first film to be undertaken independently and completely from idea to post production, leading me to understand all aspects of it thoroughly. Learning has been immense: realising the grammar of film; understanding its inherent form and ways of realising the idea through this form; realising my strengths and weaknesses with the finished film.
