The 44th Convocation of the National Institute of Design (NID), Ahmedabad was held on Thursday, February 27, 2025. The prestigious event was graced by Smt. Droupadi Murmu, Hon’ble President of India, who served as the chief guest and deliver the convocation address to the graduating students. The convocation marks a significant milestone for the graduating students as they embark on their professional journeys in the field of design while making a significant impact on the global design landscape.

The National Institute of Design recently hosted a 12-day “Training of Trainers” workshop for Dhokra, Lacquer, and Paitkar Painting artisans from Jharkhand. The workshop brought together a diverse group of 22 women and 8 men (30 participants) ranging in age from 25 to 75 years. This initiative was a collaborative effort aimed towards the betterment of economic and social priorities between the Institute and JHARCRAFT (Jharkhand Silk Textile and Handicraft Development Corporation) and NID.

The National Institute of Design (NID), Ahmedabad, in collaboration with Furlenco and the Furniture & Interior Design (FID) Alumni Network of NID, will host an NID x FURLENCO event from April 9-10, 2025, focused on the evolving landscape of furniture design and evolving trends in the domain of Furniture Design. The event aims to explore key themes of sustainability, innovation, and the future of the furniture industry.

An MoU was signed between the National Forensic Sciences University (NFSU) and the National Institute of Design (NID) Ahmedabad at Vigyan Bhawan, New Delhi, on 14 April 2025 on the occasion of All India Forensic Science Summit 2025.
