Dr. Bhaumik Nagar is Sr. Faculty in New Media Design programme, and Vice Activity Chairperson Continuing Education Programme.

Dr. Bhaumik joined NID in 2007 and has 27 years of rich work experience. Dr. Bhaumik holds a Bachelor’s degree in Electronics and Communications Engineering, Master’s in Computer Engineering and PhD in Engineering and Technology. Dr. Bhaumik has completed his Ph.D. with a specialization in the Performance Enhancement of SPARQL Query over the Semantic Web. 

He has worked on the professional project to design, develop solution architecture and user interface/experience design for the application ‘fast forward’ for web/mobile/tablet for 1700 plus branches and 10000 plus on-field executives for MMFSL (Mahindra & Mahindra Financial Services Ltd., Mumbai).

Bhaumik has also successfully completed the professional project with TCS, Mumbai for the design of user interface and experience for Tata Consultancy Services product TCS iON Digital Assessment Solution. The iON Digital Assessment Solution allows you to conduct large scale assessments digitally, shortening the exam cycle from nine months to one month. This solution is used by more than 3000 schools, university and boards globally. The focus of the interface and experience design was to create the experience of physical evaluation of answer booklets for the teachers on tablets. The most challenging task was to offer comprehensive functionalities over tablets, laptops and desktops of different screen sizes and resolutions.

Bhaumik has also designed an interactive help manual in Gujarati language for primary agricultural credit societies in Gujarat to be used by more than 10000 credit societies so that they could use the interactive help manual to learn Common Accounting System introduced by the National Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development (NABARD). Based on live examples, the multimedia CD was visually appealing, comprehensive, and easily understandable consisting of audio/video help and games.

The other key tasks Bhaumik had undertaken in past include the design of NID website, web application to support Open Elective registration for students, web application to provides support to prospective employers and enables students to register online for training/diploma projects and jobs during Industry Interface and implementing Google Apps for NID’s email facility.
