Dr. Ketankumar Vadodaria joined NID as “Associate Senior Faculty” in the Textile Design discipline at NID Ahmedabad Campus. His area of interest includes conventional textiles, development and processing of functional / technical / medical textiles, nano textiles, flexible smart materials.

He did his bachelors and postgraduation in textile engineering from M.S. University of Vadodara, Gujarat, India. Post which he pursued Ph.D. on Smart and functional textile from School of textiles and design in The Research Institute for Flexible Materials (RiFLEX), The school of textiles and design, Heriot-watt university, U.K.. Prior joining to NID, he worked in production, quality assurance, technical services in various textile sectors such as spinning, denim / grey fabric manufacturing, and home textiles. He also worked as researcher / scientist at different National level R & D textiles research associations such as ATIRA (Ahmedabad Textile Industries Research Association), MANTRA (Manmade Textile Research Association) and SITRA (The South India Textile Research Association). He has attracted different R & D funded projects from industries and different funding agencies such as DBT (Department of Biotechnology), Nanomission, DST (Department of science and technology), DRDO (Defense research development organization), BIRAC (Biotechnology Industry Research Assistance Council), MoT (Ministry of Textiles) and worked as principal investigator (PI) and Co-PI in different R & D projects such as development of medical / technical textile products, nanofibres, smart materials, testing instruments, process development. In his previous job, he served as the Principal scientist – B and head - Centre of excellence (CoE) for medical textiles at SITRA (linked to ministry of textiles). The focus of CoE division was to provide services to medical textile industry in terms of R & D, formulation of Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS) standards, marketing, training, testing of medical / technical textiles, organize exhibitions / seminars/ workshops/ industry meets/ buyers-seller meets, preparing bankable detailed project reports for medical textile manufacturing in India, techno-commercial consultation to industry / government agencies / academic institutes and individuals, publish medical textile bulletin. As a head of division, he was responsible for successful running of NABL accredited physical, biological (microbiology and biotechnology), Chemistry (Analytical and polymer) laboratories and an incubation centre to help new startups in medical textiles. Number of seminars/ workshops / national and international exhibitions such as meditex2018 at Bombay Convention and Exhibition Centre, Mumbai was organized under his leadership. Dr. Ketan has published articles, book chapters in referred national and international journals / books. He also filed few patents and published few articles in commercial magazines. He presented several papers in national and international conferences. He is perusing his MBA through IGNOU.
