P. Rama Krishna Rao has been a faculty at NID since 2002. He teaches Design Overview, History of Design, Materials and Methods, Geometry and Structure, and Design Projects. He graduated in the Advanced Entry Professional Education Programme (Industrial Design) from NID. His areas of interest include Systems Thinking, Indigenous Design, Lifestyle Research, Product Semantics, Craft, and Folk Art.
Rama Krishna has contributed to institutional projects such as Design Development for crafts and livelihoods associated with Kondapally toys (sponsored by DRDA, Krishna District, Andhra Pradesh), Technical Glossary of Handbook on Handicrafts (sponsored by Council of Handicrafts Development Corporations and Development Commissioner (Handicrafts), and Feasibility Study visit to Nicobar Islands for a posttsunami rehabilitation project (sponsored by Jamsetji Tata Centre for Disaster Management, TISS, Mumbai). Before joining NID, Rama Krishna held positions as Faculty (Accessory Design) at National Institute of Fashion Technology, Bengaluru, Faculty Intern (Crafts and Design) at Indian Institute of Crafts and Design, Jaipur and as Officer In-charge (Production) at Andaman’s Timber Industries Ltd., Port Blair. He was awarded (as team member) the first prize in the Interior Elements Category at the Everything Corrugated Offers
