Pratheek P Ashok is an Industrial Designer and Educator. Pratheek holds a Master's degree in Design with a specialization in Transportation and Automobile Design from the National Institute of Design (NID), Ahmedabad. Prior to his design studies, he obtained a Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, from SCMS School of Engineering & Technology, Ernakulam.
With a diverse professional background, Pratheek has garnered experience in various facets of design. Having worked briefly in Electric Vehicle design, Pratheek then dedicated over four years to designing innovative boats at Navgathi Marine Design. This blend of experience brings a unique perspective to the classroom, bridging the realms of automotive and maritime design.
Prior to joining NID, Pratheek served as an Assistant Professor in the department of Industrial Design at School of Arts & Design, Woxsen University, Hyderabad. There, he played a key role in shaping the next generation of designers by establishing labs, developing curriculum, and implementing innovative pedagogy. In academia, Pratheek is deeply invested in exploring the realm of speculative design, particularly its influence on the future of the field. He is also fascinated by the interplay between form and function, especially in the context of mobility. Additionally, his research interests extend towards multimodal transportation, focusing on how design can optimize movement and interaction within urban environments.
