Responsibilities

Faculty, Design Foundation Studies

Vijaya Rajendra Barge is an inter-media artist, print maker and an educator.

She completed her BFA in Textile from Sir J J School of Art in 2013 and went on to do her M.Des. in Design Research from NIFT, Mumbai. Her earlier upbringing in art followed by her courtship with design, enabled her to further develop her aesthetics and sensitivity towards visuals that converse. She did work as Head of Design and production with a fashion label “Udd” but gave it up to practice the art of creating articulate visuals across media ranging from travel sketches to digital art to micro AVs and so on. She has had Solo exhibitions at Jehangir Art Gallery, Mumbai and Sudarshan Art Gallery, Pune 2018. She is also an educator and has worked as visiting faculty at Sir J.J School of Art and as an Assistant Professor with Symbiosis Institute of Design for 2 years. Her ways of teaching are directly informed by her art practice as she implores her students as well to find meaning in different compositions around them. Her areas of expertise include Art and Design History, Colour Theory and Form Derivation and Development. Currently she is working as Associate Faculty for Design Foundation Studies at NID, Ahmedabad.
