Furniture and Interior Design discipline celebrates 50+ years of furniture practice at the National Institute of Design Ahmedabad Campus through Design for Living & Living for Design. This is a 3 days symposium event, scheduled on 31st October, 1st & 2nd November 2022. We will be looking at conversations & reflection on design practices, pedagogies & changing perspectives on Industrial Design. The symposium is accompanied by exhibitions reflecting the ethos of different themes that will be discussed in various sessions during the event. The exhibition will be held from the 28th of October to the 2nd of November, 2022 at NID Ahmedabad campus.

The themes for the symposium are mentioned below.
1.Living with Bamboo : Celebrating the contributions of Prof. M P Ranjan. Understanding M P Ranjan’s approach to maker centric design and how these ideas inspired a generation of designers.
2.Living & Body-mind-self Triad : A discussion on how furniture and other artifacts for the living space address the complexities of daily tasks and its environment by assisting the human body to maintain comfortable postures, thereby creating value for better living spaces.
3.Education around designing for Living : Looking into the future with education as a space that supports learning and ideas for nurturing the designers of the future and their ethics in practice.
4.Living & Culture : Discussing spaces and artifacts as metaphors that characterize life in a culture and its socio-spatial interaction in a context.
5.Living & Working : Exploring the complexities of living and working while locating the human body in spaces increasingly mediated through technology embedded objects.
