The National Institute of Design, Ahmedabad, is pleased to announce its winners of the global Terra Carta Design Lab: Statement Denim and WildWatch.
Statement Denim tackles post-production denim waste by upcycling it into eco-friendly products, reducing carbon emissions, and promoting circular economy principles. By incorporating traditional handcrafting techniques, the initiative also generates livelihoods for women artisans.

The Terra Carta Design Lab, conducted in partnership with four leading design institutions—National Institute of Design, Ahmedabad; Royal College of Art; Rhode Island School of Design; and Dubai Institute of Design and Innovation—aims to empower student-led innovations to combat the climate crisis.
Each project will receive £1,00,000 in funding to bring their powerful ideas to life.
Being a part of the Terra Carta Design Lab has allowed NID to reflect on and test its foundational principles, which have been rooted in sustainability, and their potential impact on a global stage. It has also given the institute an opportunity to reflect on its pedagogy and evolve it to be more climate-action-focused.
