The National Institute of Design (NID), Ahmedabad successfully hosted its Design Research Symposium 2025 – Innovative Enquiries in Doctoral Research on 13th and 14th November, 2025. A total of 23 doctoral scholars from NID presented their ongoing and completed research work through papers, highlighting diverse perspectives across design disciplines.

Dr Mukesh Mahaling, Hon. Cabinet Minister (Health & Family Welfare, Parliamentary Affairs & Electronics & Information Technology (E&IT)) Government of Odisha along with Shri B H Talati , IAS Commissioner Technical Education, Gujarat visited National Institute of Design, Ahmedabad on 31st December 2025.

As part of its academic programme, NID Ahmedabad, along with its extended campuses, is offering the International Open Electives 2025–26, themed “Shilp Sangam: Rooted in Heritage, Shaping the Future,” from January 5 to January 16. A total of 460 students have enrolled in 29 courses, which are conducted across three campuses. The Ahmedabad campus is hosting 14 workshops, Gandhinagar: 8 workshops and Bangalore: 7 workshops bringing together artisans from 15 Indian states and Four countries as faculty. The range of crafts offered spans diverse geographies and engages with materials such as clay, glass beads, thread, jewellery, bamboo, felt, tie and Dye, leather, wood among others. Students will experience, several Painted narrative traditions like Patachitra, Mata ni Pachedi, Kangra painting, textile traditions like felt work, Bandhini, etc, Material cultures of ladakh, majuli assam, chamba, kerala and many more

The National Institute of Design (NID), Ahmedabad, is honoured to have extended its design services for the ceremonial invitation kit commissioned by Rashtrapati Bhavan for the reception of distinguished guests on the occasion of India’s 77th Republic Day, to be celebrated on January 26, 2026.

The 45th Convocation of the National Institute of Design, Ahmedabad, scheduled for 22 January 2026, marks a significant academic and institutional milestone, celebrating NID’s contribution to design education, research, and practice in India. The Convocation will be graced by Dr V. Narayanan, Chairman of the Indian Space Research Organisation, as the Chief Guest, who will deliver the Convocation Address to the graduating students.
